Mission
Our mission is to collectively manage the intellectual property rights of those who work in the field of music, compensating, fairly and adequately, musicians, authors, composers, performers, producers and publishers, promoting their development, initiative, freedom and musical production, as well as the social protection of SCM members, contributing to a significant improvement in the value of Cape Verdean music and the agents who contribute to it.

SCM aims to be the reference entity, at national and international level, in the collective management of intellectual property rights of those who work in the field of music in Cape Verde, contributing to its affirmation and excellence as a strategic factor in the development of the country and its population.

Brief history
SCM, whose creation was published in the Official Gazette on June 18, 2013, held its first general assembly in Praia, where Solange Cesarovna was unanimously elected President of the Board of Directors.
In 2020, the collective management solution “WIPO Connect” was installed and the first distribution of copyrights was made in the country. The following year, the first distribution of related rights was made.
In 2022, the SCM North Delegation was opened in Mindelo and the first edition of the “SCM Awards” took place with enormous success. In the same year, the SCM Governing Bodies were also elected, with the Presidency of the Board of Directors being held by Daniel Spencer.
In 2023, SCM became a member of the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC).
The launch of this new SCM online Portal took place in 2024.
